DIRECTIONS FROM THE AIRPORT
Driving directions from the Managua airport to Iguana
Don't be afraid to ask for directions.
DO drive the speed limit- they WILL stop you for speeding
If you are stopped, we suggest you do not pay a bribe. Just stall, speak as
little Spanish as possible. If worse comes to worse they will give you a multa,
a ticket. This involves taking your license and giving you a yellow paper.You are
meant to pay your fine at a local bank, then go to the police station in the district
where you were fined to pick up your license. We have found it much easier to
drive with the yellow paper for the rest of your visit ( if stopped again, flash the
yellow paper-there is nothing more they can do to you) and get a new license at
DMV at home. Much less trouble and cheaper.
Turn right out of the airport . Drive 3 K and turn right. It will be a shady, tree lined
road. Sorry, there are no distinguishing signs!
-After 6 kilometers, at the first major intersection turn right, heading South.
-22 kilometers later you will come to a stop sign at a T intersection-turn left.
Police are often here, so use your turn signals.
50 yards up on the left is Papa John's Pizza if you need one last American meal .
You must drive up and do a U-turn and come back to it.
-After 3.2 kilometers you'll come to a roundabout -take a right in the direction
Masaya/Catarina You climb up a big hill 8 kilometers and go straight thru the
Catarina roundabout. There will be lots of flower stands as you approach
Catarina. You will pass the towns of Diriomo and Niquinohomo
-After 9 Km , you come to a large triangle shaped intersection where you can
veer left to Granada or right to Nandaime. Go right.
-After 9 more kilometers you will come to a T intersection on the Pan American
Highway at Nandaime. Go left. You will soon pass a huge Unilever factory on
your left and you continue South a total of 44 kilometers untill soon after Pan Am
Highway KM post 108.
.-Follow straight for 44 Km until soon after the Pan American KM post 108 in
Rivas. If you need groceries, you should get them here at PALI Supermarket
.
-Just before you come into Rivas, take first big right, which will have signs for
Hacienda Iguana, Rancho Santana, Arenas Tola, Tola.
-Go a mile, or so, and take a right at stop sign toward Tola.
- Follow the road about 10-15 minutes into Tola.
Turn left at the stop sign past the park
.
-Turn right in 2 blocks, following signs. Stay on main dirt road toward Hacienda
Iguana, Guacalito, and Rancho Santana for about 25 minutes
-Turn left at Iguana gate. (If you come to Rancho Santana you're about 6
kilometers past Iguana)
-You'll need to tell the guard you are guests of the Robertsons, Lot B17,
Marisombra.
- After passing the second guardpost, go right (the Main Office and Don Eloy's
Restaurant were on your left.) Pass some golf townhouses,golf condos, the
Sales Office, until you come to the Round-a-bout. Go left. The beach is now on
your right . Marisombra is 100 yards on your left.
